As “A Sex Show” comes to a close, I’m feeling really inspired by my participation in the show itself. As a queer person, having my works included alongside a roster of talented artists is both an honour and a privilege.

“A Sex Show” is a reminder to me that it’s critical I keep in mind the idea that while life is a bit easier for queer people today, our rights are only just fairly recent wins – and there’s no guarantee we’ll get to keep them. This matters because if we take our gaze off these hard-earned rights, we run the risk of losing them altogether. One only needs to look at the recent challenges to our rights in Calgary, or south of the border for that matter. So yes, being part of this show is a wonderful opportunity as an artist and also, in a very real way, it fuels my politics as a person.

There’s still time to catch the show as it closes on February 25th. Both of the works you see on this page will be there and are for sale. I encourage you to drop by and check out the myriad of ways my fellow peers have interpreted the theme.
